HSI turned south by 151 pts or 0.6% to an immediate-market low 23,961, on turnover of $74.6 billion, owing to over 2%-5% plunge in MEITUAN-W (3690.HK), ENN ENERGY (02688.HK), WUXI BIO (02269.HK) and BYD COMPANY (01211.HK).

Among HK-listed chipmakers, SOLOMON SYSTECH (02878.HK) clocked the heftiest selling pressure today. It slid 5.4% from the almost-two-month peak to $0.87. HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) dived 3.9% to $40.55. SMIC (00981.HK) faded 2.4% to $19.

In the U.S. bourse, large chipmakers and dotcoms sensitive to interest rate were subdued as market expectation on rate hike heightened amid towering inflation. Applied Materials (AMAT.US) plummeted 8.8%. QUALCOMM (QCOM.US) tumbled 5.2%. Intel (INTC.US), Texas Instruments (TXN.US), Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.US) and NVIDIA (NVDA.US) also fell 1.6%-3.9%.
