Iran is discussing with Oman how to establish some form of permanent toll system to formally control maritime traffic passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran's Ambassador to France, Mohammad Amin-Nejad, said Iran and Oman must mobilize all resources to provide security services and manage navigation in the most appropriate manner, which will inevitably incur costs, but stressed that the system will remain transparent.

US President Donald Trump responded that he hopes Hormuz will remain unobstructed and allow free passage, adding that he does not want to see any tolls imposed.
