China and Russia Fortify Comprehensive Strategic Coordination, Sign 20 Cooperation Documents in Trade and Other Fields

Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is on a state visit to China. The two heads of state agreed to extend the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation between China and Russia. Xi accentuated that both sides should focus on their respective development and revitalization goals, fully leverage the comprehensive and well-established mechanisms of China-Russia cooperation, strengthen top-level design for all-round collaboration, and upgrade practical cooperation in trade and investment, energy and resources, transportation, and technological innovation. Xi noted the need to carry forward the tradition of friendship between the two peoples by enhancing exchanges and cooperation in education, culture, film, tourism, and sports, thereby consolidating the social foundation of bilateral friendship. Putin stated that, through joint efforts, Russia-China relations reached an unprecedented high level, featuring close high-level exchanges and solid political mutual trust. Bilateral trade grew steadily, energy supply and demand achieved mutual benefits, and cooperation in transportation, logistics, and technology continued to deepen. Following the talks, the two heads of state signed and issued the Joint Statement of the People's Republic of China and the Russian Federation on Further Strengthening Comprehensive Strategic Coordination and Deepening Good-Neighborly Friendly Cooperation, and witnessed the signing of 20 cooperation documents in areas including trade, education, and technology.
