Iran allowed non-hostile vessels to pass through the Strait of Hormuz on their terms, leading to a more than 6% slump in Brent oil futures. Hong Kong bourse opened higher in the morning session. The HSI opened 216 points or 0.9% higher at 25,280; the HSCEI opened 60 points or 0.7% higher at 8,559; and the HSTECH opened 47 points or 1% higher at 4,878.

In the oil sector, CNOOC (00883.HK) opened 3.2% lower, and KUNLUN ENERGY (00135.HK) opened 6% lower. Gold prices recouped above USD4,500, with ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) and ZHAOJIN MINING (01818.HK) opening 3.8% higher, SD GOLD (01787.HK) opening 4.5% higher, CHINAGOLDINTL (02099.HK) and LINGBAO GOLD (03330.HK) opening 5.6% and 6.8% higher respectively.

Commodity stocks such as CMOC (03993.HK) opened 6.7% higher, MMG (01208.HK) and JIANGXI COPPER (00358.HK) opened 5.5% and 4.4% higher, while CHINAHONGQIAO (01378.HK) and CHALCO (02600.HK) opened 3.1% and 3.3% higher.

For techs, XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) reported a 24% YoY decline in adjusted net profit for 4Q25, in line, and the stock opened 2% lower. SENSETIME-W (00020.HK) narrowed its annual loss to RMB1.766 billion, with EBITDA turning positive in 2H, and the stock opened 3.1% higher.

TENCENT (00700.HK), MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), and JD-SW (09618.HK) opened 1-1.2% higher, while BABA-W (09988.HK), NTES-S (09999.HK), and KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) opened 1.5-1.8% higher. PA GOODDOCTOR (01833.HK) saw its annual adjusted net profit rally by 161%, with the stock opening 4% higher.
