Goldman Sachs released a research report raising its 2026 average price forecasts for Brent oil/ WTI oil from US$77/ US$72 per barrel to US$85/ US$75 per barrel. The broker also lifted its 4Q26 price forecasts to US$80/ US$75 per barrel each.

The main factors include a significant decline in commercial oil inventories and a long-term rise in oil prices after risk adjustments for effective spare capacity in the market.

Goldman Sachs currently assumed that transport volume through the Strait of Hormuz will maintain only 5% of normal levels for six weeks, with a gradual recovery expected to take one month.

Furthermore, market awareness of the risks associated with highly concentrated production and spare capacity could lead to a structural increase in strategic inventories and long-term prices.
