Shanghai recently announced the new annual taxable price threshold for personal housing property tax, according to a report by The Paper.

As indicated by data from the Shanghai Municipal Statistics Bureau, the selling price of newly built residential properties in the city averaged RMB46,268 per square meter in 2025, based on which the applicable threshold for the personal housing property tax rate in 2026 is RMB92,536 per square meter, the first time since 2018 that this threshold has shown a downside.
