Lei Jun, a deputy to the National People's Congress and the founder of XIAOMI-W (01810.HK), stated that the surge in AI demand has prompted a spike in memory chip prices, exerting immense pressure on the group's mobile business, Chinese media reported. However, he pledged that the company will explore various methods to minimize the difficulty for consumers to accept these changes.

This is the third recent occasion where Lei has publicly discussed the increase in chip prices. Last October, in response to the price hike of the Redmi K90 series phones, Lei mentioned that the rise in memory chip prices is indeed too much, and conceded that the product price adjustments are due to the upstream memory chip cost increases. As a mobile phone manufacturer, it is challenging to fully absorb the cost pressure, necessitating price adjustments as a response.
