ByteDance is developing AI chips and is in negotiations with Samsung Electronics to ensure the supply of advanced chips, Reuters, citing people with the knowledge of the matter, reported.

A ByteDance spokesperson stated that reports about the company's in-house chip development are inaccurate, while not providing further explanation.

ByteDance's chip project is codenamed SeedChip, with plans to receive chip samples by the end of March, report told.

The goal is to produce at least 100,000 chips designed specifically for AI inference tasks this year, with a gradual increase in production to 350,000 chips.

ByteDance reportedly plans to pump over RMB160 billion in AI-related procurement this year, with more than half of it allocated for purchasing Nvidia (NVDA.US) chips and advancing its independent chip development.
