The HSI opened 530 points or 2% lower at 26,354. The HSCEI dropped 171 points or 1.9% to 8,922. The HSTECH slipped 131 points or 2.4% to 5,275. Gold and silver stocks started on a low note amid commodity market fluctuations. CHINAGOLDINTL (02099.HK) and SD GOLD (01787.HK) opened down 5.4% and 5.1%. ZHAOJIN MINING (01818.HK) and CHI SILVER GP (00815.HK) eroded 4.8%. ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) slid 4.1%. Resource stocks MMG (01208.HK) and JIANGXI COPPER (00358.HK) plunged 5.2% and 5.3% at open. CHALCO (02600.HK) and CMOC (03993.HK) shed 4.1% and 4.2%. PETROCHINA (00857.HK) and CNOOC (00883.HK) waned 2.3% and 2% as oil prices sank nearly 3%. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) opened declining 1.3% at HKD92.55. It took over a fresh grocery e-commerce company under Dingdong (DDL.US) for an initial price of USD717 million. Among other tech stocks, TENCENT (00700.HK) and JD-SW (09618.HK) lost 2.2% and 2.4%. KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK), BABA-W (09988.HK), and BIDU-SW (09888.HK) plummeted 3.8-4.3%. NTES-S (09999.HK) and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) dived 3.1% and 3.3%. Carmakers GEELY AUTO (00175.HK), BYD COMPANY (01211.HK), and XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) opened 1.4-1.7% lower. XPENG-W (09868.HK) also dropped 2.9%, but NIO-SW (09866.HK) rallied 2%. In the financial sector, HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) and AIA (01299.HK) opened down 2.7% and 4%. HKEX (00388.HK) ebbed 1.5%.
