Nearly two months after US President Donald Trump greenlighted Nvidia (NVDA.US) to export chips to China, Nvidia's sale of H200 AI chips to China has not yet received final approval from the US, the Financial Times, citing people with the knowledge of the matter, reported.

This was because the US State Department, Department of Defense, and Department of Energy need to conduct national security reviews before issuing licenses to Chinese customers.

Chinese customers have not yet ordered H200 chips from Nvidia, as Nvidia has not received authorization and it is unknown what conditions will be attached to the sale, sources divulged.

At the moment, the US Department of Commerce has completed its review, while the State Department is pushing for stricter restrictions to be implemented.
