<H Shrs>HSI Closes Up 699 Pts, Hitting 4.5Yrs+ High; Financials, Developers, Commodity Stocks Top Gainers

After the USD Index (DXY) slid to a four-year low, Hong Kong bourse leapfrogged. The HSI opened 198 points higher, and expanded its gains, closing at 27,826, up 699 points or 2.6%, marking its highest level in over four and a half years. The HSCEI mounted 267 points or 2.9%, closing at 9,512. The HSTECH increased 145 points or 2.5%, closing at 5,900. The total market turnover for the day was HKD361.523 billion.

Financials had a good run, with HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) and BOC HONG KONG (02388.HK) up 2.2% and 2.5%, respectively. HKEX (00388.HK) and AIA (01299.HK) jumped up 2% and 2.8%. Chinese banks such as CCB (00939.HK), ICBC (01398.HK), and BANK OF CHINA (03988.HK) soared 3.3-3.6%. Among Chinese insurers, CHINA LIFE (02628.HK) swelled 3.2%. Hong Kong property developers like SHK PPT (00016.HK) and HENDERSON LAND (00012.HK) shot up 3.6%. HANG LUNG PPT (00101.HK) and WHARF REIC (01997.HK) rallied 3.1%. Chinese property developers such as CHINA JINMAO (00817.HK) and GREENTOWN CHINA (03900.HK) surged by 11.9% and 9%, respectively. SEAZEN (01030.HK), CHINA RES LAND (01109.HK), SUNAC (01918.HK), and CHINA VANKE (02202.HK) proliferated 3.6-4.6%.

Spot gold shattered above USD5,200, and silver futures mushroomed, with SD GOLD (01787.HK) and ZIJIN GOLD INTL (02259.HK) up by 8.7%. CHI SILVER GP (00815.HK) and ZHAOJIN MINING (01818.HK) ballooned 5.2% and 6.1%, while LINGBAO GOLD (03330.HK) and ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) jumped up over 3%. Resource stocks such as CHINAHONGQIAO (01378.HK) and JIANGXI COPPER (00358.HK) spiked 7.3% and 8.3%. CHALCO (02600.HK) surged 12.7% and CMOC (03993.HK) skyrocketed 5.5%. Oil producers like SINOPEC CORP (00386.HK) escalated 3.6%, while PETROCHINA (00857.HK) and CNOOC (00883.HK) advanced 5% and 4.8%, respectively.

In the tech sector, TENCENT (00700.HK), BABA-W (09988.HK), MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), JD-SW (09618.HK), and NTES-S (09999.HK) elevated 1.9-2.4%. KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) rose sharply by 4.4% and 3.6%, with BIDU-SW (09888.HK) up 0.6%.
