<H Shrs>HSI Rises 51 Pts at Midday; SMIC Soars 7%; Resource, New Consumer Stocks Rally

The HSI closed the midday at 25,742, up 51 points or 0.2%. The HSCEI rose 24 points or 0.27% to 8,925. The HSTECH climbed 49 points or 0.9% to 5,528. Trading slowed ahead of the long holiday, resulting in a half-day turnover of HKD95.586 billion.

Major tech stocks delivered a varying performance. KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK), BIDU-SW (09888.HK), and BABA-W (09988.HK) grew 1.7%. TENCENT (00700.HK) and MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) edged down about 0.1%. XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) dropped 2.1%, with a turnover of HKD3.813 billion. Chip stocks thrived, with SMIC (00981.HK) soaring 7.3% at midday to HKD69.8, the best performer among blue chips, with a turnover of HKD4.314 billion. HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) also swelled 5.2%, with a turnover of HKD1.422 billion.

Resource stocks trended north as international gold prices hit new highs. JIANGXI COPPER (00358.HK) and ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) jumped 3.1-4.9%. MMG (01208.HK) added 3% to a new all-time high of HKD8.67. ZHAOJIN MINING (01818.HK) and SD GOLD (01787.HK) gained over 4%. CHINAGOLDINTL (02099.HK) rocketed 6.3%. CHI SILVER GP (00815.HK) also mushroomed 5.8% with international silver prices setting a fresh record.

New consumer stocks were hyped up. LAOPU GOLD (06181.HK) ballooned 5.1% to HKD691.5, with a turnover of HKD483 million. MIXUE GROUP (02097.HK) spiked 9.4% to HKD432.2, with a turnover of HKD328.5 million. POP MART (09992.HK) rallied 4% to HKD200.6, with a turnover of HKD1.026 billion.
