Chinese President Xi Jinping met with HKSAR Chief Executive John Lee this afternoon (16th) in Beijing to receive his report on the current situation in Hong Kong and the work of the SAR government. Xi stated that Hong Kong is making new strides in advancing from stability to prosperity, and the Central Government fully affirms the work of Lee and the SAR. Xi also expressed condolences to the victims and the fallen firefighter of the deadly fire in Tai Po, and extended sympathies to their families and affected compatriots.
