French President Emmanuel Macron is pondering over an invitation to Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend next year's G7 Summit in France and is also contemplating a visit to China in December, Bloomberg, citing people with the knowledge of the matter, reported.

The Elysee Palace responded that France hopes and is willing to maintain contact with major emerging countries that are addressing global imbalances.

It is unclear whether Xi will accept the invitation or whether other G7 member countries will be open to this move, although Germany has generally expressed support, sources divulged.
