As the market was on the see-saw for the Fed's interest rate meeting and the US-China leader summit, Hong Kong bourse jolted in the morning session. The HSI opened 75 points higher, initially rising 85 points to a peak of 26,519 before retreating, and once sagging 121 points to bottom at 26,312. It eventually closed the morning session up 3 points or 0.01% at 26,437. The HSCEI faded 22 points or 0.2% to 9,444. The HSTECH added 1 point to 6,172. The total market turnover for the morning was HKD126.95 billion. In the financial sector, HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) announced its quarterly results at noon, with the stock growing 1.1% to HKD103.1. BOC HONG KONG (02388.HK) will also release its quarterly results today, with its share price mounting 2% to HKD38.74. HKEX (00388.HK) closed flat at HKD434.2, AIA (01299.HK) rallied 3%, and FWD (01828.HK) fell off 2.7%. Since gold price sank below USD4,000, LINGBAO GOLD (03330.HK), SD GOLD (01787.HK), ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK), CHINAGOLDINTL (02099.HK), and ZHAOJIN MINING (01818.HK) shed 2.3-3.1%. For techs, BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) spiked 5.9%, with brokers noting that sales of its self-developed game “Escape From Duckov” exceled expectations. KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) inched up 1.1%, while BIDU-SW (09888.HK) and JD-SW (09618.HK) added 0.3% and 0.1%, respectively. BABA-W (09988.HK), TENCENT (00700.HK), MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), and NTES-S (09999.HK) dropped 0.5-1.3%, and XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) lost 2%. Chip stocks SMIC (00981.HK) and HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) lifted 1.8% and 3.2%, respectively. Chip equipment stock ASMPT (00522.HK) dived 5.8%. Smartphone component stock Q TECH (01478.HK) slumped 2.9%. As to autos, XPENG-W (09868.HK) shot up 3.6%, while BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) and LI AUTO-W (02015.HK) edged down 0.5% and 2%, respectively. Autonomous driving developer PONY-W (02026.HK) staged a comeback to list in Hong Kong. An automotive radar system supplier HESAI-W (02525.HK) soared 4.8%.
