The Hong Kong bourse started higher in the morning, with the HSI opening up 75 points or 0.28% at 26,508; the HSCEI up 22 points or 0.2% at 9,489; and the HSTECH up 27 points or 0.4% at 6,198.

In the financial sector, HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) is set to announce its quarterly results at noon, with the stock opening 1.2% higher at HKD103.2. BOC HONG KONG (02388.HK) will release its quarterly results during the day, with its stock opening 0.1% higher at HKD38. HKEX (00388.HK) and AIA (01299.HK) opened 0.4% and 0.9% higher, respectively.

For techs, BABA-W (09988.HK) opened 0.2% higher at HKD174; TENCENT (00700.HK) opened flat at HKD656; MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) opened flat at HKD102, and SMIC (00981.HK) opened flat at HKD82.8. JD-SW (09618.HK), KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK), and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) opened 0.8-1.4% higher, while XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) and NTES-S (09999.HK) opened 0.9% and 0.7% lower, respectively. BIDU-SW (09888.HK) opened 0.3% higher at HKD125.5, and SUNNY OPTICAL (02382.HK) opened 2% higher.

As to autos, XPENG-W (09868.HK) opened 4.6% higher, while GEELY AUTO (00175.HK) and BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) opened 0.9% and 0.6% higher, respectively. In the sportswear sector, ANTA SPORTS (02020.HK) reported low single-digit positive growth in retail sales of Anta brand products in the third quarter, with its stock opening 0.2% higher at HKD88.
