China and the US are holding economic and trade negotiation in Kuala Lumpur. Li Chenggang, China's International Trade Negotiation Representative and Vice Minister of Commerce, stated after the negotiation that both sides reached a preliminary consensus on properly addressing several key economic and trade issues of mutual concern, according to CCTV. The next step will be to perform their respective domestic approval procedures.

Over the past month, there have been some turbulences in China-US economic and trade relations, which have captured global attention. Li noted that since the China-US economic and trade talks in Geneva in May, China has strictly adhered to the consensus reached during multiple calls among the leaders of China and the US, faithfully and earnestly implementing the consensus arrangements reached in the economic and trade negotiation, carefully nurturing the hard-won and relatively stable China-US economic and trade cooperation relationship. He believed that the turbulences are not what China wishes to see.
