Taobao Removes RMB99 Free Shipping Threshold, Offers Limited-time Single Item Free Shipping to HK

Starting today (12th), BABA-W (09988.HK)'s Taobao will launch a limited-time 'zero threshold' free shipping promotion to self-pickup sites in Hong Kong, according to Taobao's announcement. Users who purchase items marked with '1 item free shipping to Hong Kong' can enjoy free shipping to Hong Kong self-pickup sites or lockers via official direct shipping or consolidated shipping, without having to pay cross-border freight charge to Hong Kong. In September 2024, BABA-W announced an investment of RMB1 billion to launch a limited-time free shipping service to Hong Kong for orders over RMB99. Over 1 billion items on Taobao Hong Kong were eligible for free shipping to Cainiao Hong Kong self-pickup sites or lockers. The cross-border return service was introduced the following month, and the single item free shipping to Hong Kong is expected to be a further service upgrade.
