Nvidia (NVDA.US) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.US) agreed to pay 15% of their China chip sales revenue to the US government as a condition for obtaining export licenses to China, Financial Times quoted US officials as saying. This arrangement applies to Nvidia's H20 and Advanced Micro Devices' MI308 AI chips.

The US President Donald Trump administration has not yet decided how to utilize the related revenue. Last week, the US Department of Commerce issued a license to Nvidia for exporting H20 chips to China.

A spokesperson for Nvidia said that the company complies with US government regulations in participating in global markets, and expressed hope that export control regulations will allow the US to compete in China and worldwide, despite not exporting H20 chips to China for several months, according to Reuters. Advanced Micro Devices did not respond.
