HKTDC Survey Finds 78% Mainland Interviewees Have Purchased HK Goods w/ Youths the Most & Authenticity as Top Priority

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) has released a report titled "Hong Kong Businesses Navigating Mainland China E-commerce Retail Market - Consumer Survey Results".

According to the report, 78% of interviewed mainland consumers have purchased Hong Kong products online in the past year, with young consumers and those coming from high-spending regions being particularly enthusiastic.

It is also found that mainland consumers shop online an average of 9.4 times per month, with the frequency especially high among residents of first-tier cities and the Greater Bay Area.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong products are more popular among young consumers, with 83% of respondents aged 18-29 having bought Hong Kong products online in the past year.

Irina Fan, Director of Research at the HKTDC, said that mainland consumers are very accustomed to online shopping. They not only pursue low prices but also value whether the product is authentic, meaning that Hong Kong businesses can leverage the excellent quality of Hong Kong products and the good reputation of Hong Kong brands in the mainland to expand the e-commerce market.
