The HKD weakened, triggering the weak-side convertibility undertaking at 7.85 per USD. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) intervened in the New York session, purchasing HKD equivalent to HKD6.429 billion and selling USD.

The aggregate balance of the Hong Kong banking system will decrease to HKD72.461 billion tomorrow (6th).
