US President Donald Trump posted a letter on social media addressed to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, stating that a 30% tariff will be levied on goods from both regions, effective August 1, Reuters reported.

Sheinbaum responded by expressing her belief that Mexico and the U.S. can reach a deal, stating that the Mexican government is clear on areas where cooperation with the U.S. is possible and where it is not, but national sovereignty is non-negotiable.
