Following U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of an Israel-Iran ceasefire, with both nations officially announcing to halt attacks later on, Hong Kong bourse elevated today (24th). The HSI opened 143 points higher, peaking at 24,229 with a 540-point gain, and closed up 487 points or 2.1% at 24,177. The HSCEI rallied 163 points or 1.9% to 8,760. The HSTECH climbed 110 points or 2.1% to 5,297. Total market turnover reached HKD240.482 billion.

Automakers fared robustly, with market shedding light on XIAOMI-W (01810.HK), which launched the YU7, prompting a 3.7% leap to HKD56.9 and topping the Hong Kong turnover list at HKD12.577 billion. LEAPMOTOR (09863.HK), LI AUTO-W (02015.HK), and GWMOTOR (02333.HK) jumped up 3.8-4.3%, while GEELY AUTO (00175.HK), XPENG-W (09868.HK), and BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) shot up 3.2-3.3%. Battery maker CATL (03750.HK) spiked 2.2%, and lithium stocks GANFENGLITHIUM (01772.HK) and TIANQI LITHIUM (09696.HK) surged 6% and 5.6%, respectively.

Mainland China stock markets ascended 1%, with Chinese financials rallying. Chinese insurers CHINA TAIPING (00966.HK), PICC GROUP (01339.HK), and PING AN (02318.HK) advanced 5-5.7%, while PICC P&C (02328.HK) and CHINA LIFE (02628.HK) mounted 4.3% and 3.9%. Brokers CGS (06881.HK), CICC (03908.HK), and CSC (06066.HK) rocketed 8.8%, 6.1%, and 5.5%, respectively.

Meituan Select underwent a strategic transformation, but MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) ebbed back 1.1%. Other techs had a good run, with TENCENT (00700.HK), SMIC (00981.HK), JD-SW (09618.HK), and BIDU-SW (09888.HK) hiked 1-1.4%. BABA-W (09988.HK), NTES-S (09999.HK), and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) swelled 1.7-2.4%, and KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) escalated 3.1%.

Separately, NEW ORIENTAL-S (09901.HK) leapfrogged 8.7%, with Goldman Sachs citing optimism about near-term profit margin visibility and potential upside in shareholder return policies (e.g., regular dividends), which could drive multiple expansion after a year of valuation shrinkage.
