Chinese education technology company, NetEase Youdao (DAO.US) announced the official release of Confucius3-Math, its opened-source math model for the 'Confucius3' series foundation model, marking its first open-source inference model in mainland China focused on math education that can efficiently run on a single consumer-grade GPU. The open source of the model provides low-cost and high-performance AI solutions for the education field and promotes the accelerated penetration of foundation model technology into the education area. The 'Confucius3-Math' has demonstrated significant advantages in solving math problems in mainland China, according to introduction. Through large-scale reinforcement learning and a series of innovative algorithms, the training cost is only US$26,000, and its inference performance is about 15x that of DeepSeek R1. Meanwhile, the model achieves an extreme breakthrough in deployment performance, with service costs as low as US$0.15 per million tokens, far surpassing the cost-effectiveness of most current general foundation models, meaning that a wider range of ordinary educational institutions and developers can deploy professional-grade math AI applications at low cost.
