The Golden Harvest cinema at MegaBox in Kowloon Bay will cease operations next Monday (the 9th) as its lease expires. Kenneth Fok, Legislative Council member (Sports, Performing Arts, Culture and Publishing Functional Constituency), said on a radio program that Hong Kong saw nine cinemas shut down last year, and five more have announced closures YTD, bringing the total to 14 and reducing the total number of cinemas in this city to just 51, a situation he described as severe.
