The Cyberspace Administration of China has delayed the approval of applications for AI-based products from Apple (AAPL.US) and BABA-W (09988.HK), the Financial Times reported on Wednesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

According to the report, the decision by China's internet watchdog to postpone the approval process was primarily related to intensifying trade relations with the US.

China previously accused the US of violating the Geneva trade consensus and cited Washington's decision to impose restrictions on chip and semiconductor exports as an example of hostile actions infringing on China's national interests.
