Chip design software company Synopsys (SNPS.US) has informed its Chinese employees to cease providing services and sales in China and to stop accepting new orders in compliance with new US export restrictions, Reuters cited people familiar with the matter. Earlier rumor had it that the US government would restrict the sale of chip design software to China. The US Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) had sent letters to several major electronic design automation (EDA) software providers, requesting them to suspend shipments to Chinese customers.
