With an aim to promote standardized industry governance, the regulatory system for e-cigarettes in China is being further upgraded, with measures ranging from controlling production capacity at the source to rectifying the end market, CCTV reported, citing the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration.

The recently revised "Detailed Rules for the Administration of Tobacco Monopoly Licenses for E-cigarette-Related Manufacturers and Wholesalers" will take effect in June 2025. From then on, all e-cigarette manufacturers' licenses will specify their approved production capacity. Enterprises that fail to meet standards for product quality, energy consumption, environmental protection, fire safety, or safe production, or that produce substandard products, will have the corresponding production capacity eliminated.
