HK Transport & Logistics Sec. Hopes to See Autonomous Driving Services Rolled Out in Select Communities in 1-2 Yrs

While responding to a Legislative Council member's oral question, Mabel Chan, Hong Kong's Secretary for Transport and Logistics, said that regarding autonomous vehicle testing and applications in Hong Kong, the Transport Department had issued two pilot licenses for 12 autonomous vehicles to be tested in North Lantau and the West Kowloon Cultural District. Based on the test results, it is planned to expedite approvals through the Transport Department within the next five months, allowing autonomous vehicles to increase their driving speed to 50 kilometers per hour, said Chan.
