DFI Retail Group, owner of Wellcome and Mannings, announced a partnership with Chinese fresh produce e-commerce platform Dingdong Maicai (DDL.US). The collaboration will leverage the core strengths of both parties’ supply chains and retail networks to build a cross-border digital supply chain, offering products to Hong Kong customers through DFI’s Wellcome stores. The partnership aims to achieve sales of HKD100 million in its first year. As the initial phase of the collaboration, six selected Dingdong Maicai vegetable products were launched on April 9 across nearly 280 Wellcome supermarkets, as well as Wellcome’s online store and the foodpanda delivery platform. The partnership’s product range will gradually expand to DFI’s premium retail channels, including Market Place and 3hreesixty. Furthermore, the companies plan to introduce trending mainland Chinese vegetables and regional specialty produce later this year, alongside fruits, soy products, pre-prepared meals, snacks, and beverages. By year-end, the number of product SKUs supplied to Hong Kong is expected to exceed 150. Both parties will then actively explore extending the cooperation to DFI's supermarkets in Macau and Cambodia.
