USP Warns Potential Tariffs Could Hit Generic Drug Firms

Ronald Piervincenzi, CEO of the US Pharmacopeia (USP), noted that potential tariffs by the US government on drug imports would squash generic drug companies as the generic drug industry is far less resilient than its patented counterpart.

Any disruption to the generic drug ecosystem could trigger production stoppages, shortages, and a host of other issues, ultimately affecting American patients, Piervincenzi added.
