EU Opens Anti-dumping Investigation into CN Flat-rolled Iron, Steel Products

In response to a complaint by the European Steel Association (Eurofer), the European Commission opened an anti-dumping investigation into Chinese flat-rolled iron and steel products with tin coating. The investigation will last up to 14 months and could lead to the imposition of provisional tariffs within 7-8 months. According to the EU, one of the complaints alleged that Chinese producers benefit from distorted raw material prices, which accounted for 60-70% of production costs. The China Chamber of Commerce to the EU has expressed concern about the impact of the findings on Chinese industry and future exports.
