<H Shrs>HSI Opens Up 88 pts; BABA & TENCENT Stabilise Pre-results, While ESR Soars 19%

Hong Kong stocks continued to open higher in the morning. HSI opened 88 points or 0.5% higher at 19,203. HSCEI opened 41 points or 0.6% higher at 6,803 points. HSTECH opened 54 points or 1.4% higher at 4,072.

As for tech stocks, BABA-SW (09988.HK) and TENCENT (00700.HK) will announce their quarterly results, BABA opened 1% higher at $82, while TENCENT opened 0.7% higher at $381.

MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), JD-SW (09618.HK) and NTES-S (09999.HK) opened elevating 1.2% to 1.6%, BIDU-SW (09888.HK) and KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) opened rising 2.3% and 3%, and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) opened surging 6.7%. TME-SW (01698.HK) shares opened 4.8% higher after the company declared a DPS of USD6.85 cents. TME's US ADR closed spiking nearly 11%.

For car stocks, GEELY AUTO (00175.HK) and LI AUTO-W (02015.HK) rose 1.4% and 1.6% at open, while NIO-SW (09866.HK) and XPENG-W (09868.HK) lifted 4.7% and 4.1% at open. BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) opened flat at $222.6. XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) opened 1.2% higher at $19.6 as the market focuses on the potential launch of a new car model next year.

Mainland homebuilders CHINA OVERSEAS (00688.HK) and LONGFOR GROUP (00960.HK) opened 0.9% and 1.1% higher. AGILE GROUP (03383.HK) opened declining 2.9% after its aggregated pre-sale value crashed 68% YoY in the first four months and disclosed that it had not yet paid interest on its 2020 Notes. In financials, HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) opened 0.1% higher at $68.2, while HKEX (00388.HK) and AIA (01299.HK) opened 0.5% and 0.6% higher.
