The European Union (EU) launched an investigation into China's medical device purchases, seeking to address China's policy of giving unfair advantages to domestic suppliers, according to Bloomberg News. The investigation will focus on data collected from companies and member states, and will reach conclusion within 9 months. The EU's International Procurement Instrument 2022 promotes reciprocity in public procurement markets. Under the provisions, the EU will be able to restrict the participation of Chinese companies in the EU's tenders if it finds a lack of reciprocity in China's procurement market.
