XIAOMI to Push for More Physical Shop Sales in India

XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) India president Muralikrishnan B. said in an interview with Reuters that the company will promote brick-and-mortar store sales in India, where the company currently sells 44% of its smartphones online.

According to Counterpoint Research, Xiaomi India recorded 34% of sales in physical retail stores this year, with the rest being online. Its rival Samsung sells 57% of its smartphones in retail stores.

Quoted by the report, Muralikrushnam said Xiaomi plans to expand its existing 18,000-store-strong retail network in India and increase cooperation with cell phone dealers to supply smartphones, Xiaomi TVs, and security cameras, among other products.

He also said that some of the partner stores were found to be prominently displaying products of other brands in their stores and the company would address the situation.
