China has discovered the world's second largest light rare earth mine in the Maoniuping mining area of Mianning County, Sichuan Province, according to a CCTV report, citing the Ministry of Natural Resources.

It is understood that in the rare earth resource reserve verification and exploration project in the Maoniuping mining area, an additional resource of 9.6656 million tons of rare earth oxides was discovered, increasing the reserves by over 300%, making it the world's second largest rare earth mine in terms of resource reserves.
