Chinese Premier Li Qiang, on behalf of the State Council, presented the government work report to the Fourth Session of the 14th National People's Congress, according to a report by Xinhua News Agency. He stated that the main goals and tasks for the economic and social development in 2025 were successfully completed, and that the mainland economy marched forward despite pressure last year, demonstrating strong resilience. The overall economy was stable with progress, with the GDP growing by 5% to reach a total of RMB140.19 trillion. During this period, employment remained broadly sturdy, with 12.67 million new urban jobs created and an average urban surveyed unemployment rate of 5.2%, Li reported.
