European natural gas prices have spiked by more than 20%, hijacked by the suspension of exports from the world's largest LNG export facilities in Qatar and the uncertainty surrounding the global energy supply outlook, Bloomberg reported.

The LNG facilities of Qatar Energy have been shut down due to an attack by Iranian drones, prompting Asian countries to wrestle for alternative energy sources, which led to a second consecutive day of surging benchmark LNG futures prices.

Goldman Sachs analysts raised their forecast for European natural gas prices in April this year from EUR36 per megawatt-hour to EUR55, as most of Qatar's LNG supply is directed to the Asian market, and the increase in Asian spot prices is expected to be more prominent than in Europe.
