The HSI opened 198 points or 0.7% higher at 27,325. The HSCEI rose 58 points or 0.6% to 9,302. The HSTECH climbed 31 points or 0.5% to 5,786. In the financial sector, HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) opened up 2.2% at HKD137.5. HKEX (00388.HK) and AIA (01299.HK) edged 0.5% and 0.2% higher. As gold busted above the USD5,200 mark, CHINAGOLDINTL (02099.HK) rallied 3.8% at open. ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK), SD GOLD (01787.HK), and ZHAOJIN MINING (01818.HK) leaped 2.2-2.6%. New York silver futures also surged on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange's upward adjustment of silver margins. CHI SILVER GP (00815.HK) advanced 2.6%. Among tech stocks, TENCENT (00700.HK) and NTES-S (09999.HK) opened 1% higher. BABA-W (09988.HK), KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK), MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) added 0.4-0.6%. JD-SW (09618.HK) climbed 1.5%. BIDU-SW (09888.HK) dipped 0.4%. As for chip stocks, SMIC (00981.HK) and HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) ticked up 0.8% and 0.9% at open.
