Yang Hongfeng, a level 1 bureau rank official of the Department of Supervision and Inspection and Anti-Unfair Competition Bureau at the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), said at a special press conference that the next step for market regulatory authorities will be to solidly implement the new Anti-Unfair Competition Law, according to the Shanghai Securities News. The authorities will investigate and deal with various unfair competition behaviors in accordance with the law, resolutely crack down on illegal activities that disrupt fair competition, better protecting consumer rights and creating a more fair competitive market environment. The new Anti-Unfair Competition Law was officially implemented on 15 October 2025. Yang specifically reminded platform operators to strictly implement the requirements of the Anti-Unfair Competition Law regarding platform responsibilities. They must not only operate in compliance themselves but also guide and regulate operators within the platform to compete fairly according to the law. If they discover that operators within the platform are engaging in unfair competition, platform operators should promptly take necessary response measures in accordance with the law, and report to the supervisory and inspection departments of the people's government at or above the county level where the platform operator is located, as required.
