Industry data indicates that South Korea is expected to surpass Japan for the first time as the main destination for Chinese travelers during the Lunar New Year (LNY) holiday, according to Bloomberg. Analysts anticipated that approx. 230,000-250,000 mainland Chinese tourists will arrive in South Korea during the 9-day holiday starting 15 February, representing a 52% increase from that in the same period last year. Japan was once a popular destination for Chinese tourists due to the weak JPY, but the tourism industry in Japan is currently facing a downturn, with Chinese visitors expected to decrease by 60% YoY, reflecting the growing diplomatic tensions between China and Japan, the report added. Meanwhile, Seoul is actively easing visa policies for Chinese tour groups. AASTOCKS Financial News Website: www.aastocks.com |
