In US President Donald Trump's first year back in office, German companies' investment in the US sank by nearly half, dampened by uncertainties in the trade environment, Reuters cited a report from the German Economic Institute (IW) as saying.

The study, referencing data from the German central bank, showed that German companies' investment in the US amounted to approximately EUR10.2 billion from February to November last year, down about 45% from nearly EUR19 billion in the same period the previous year.
