CPCA Expects Overall Car Mkt Sales This Yr to Remain Flat Compared to Last Yr's Domestic Retail Volume

According to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), China's retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles (NEV-PVs) reached 1.337 million units last December, a YoY increase of 2.6%, while the cumulative retail sales for last year were 12.809 million units, growing by 17.6%.

In December, retail sales of conventional fuel passenger vehicles were 920,000 units, a YoY decrease of 30%. The cumulative retail sales for last year were 10.94 million units, a decrease of 9%.

The CPCA expects the passenger vehicle market in 2026 to follow a U-shaped trend, with overall car market sales remaining flat compared to the domestic retail volume in 2025.
