<H Shrs>HSI Closes Down 309 Pts as Brokers/ CN Insurers Weaken; LENOVO GROUP Dips 5%

The HSI lost 309 points or 1.2% to close at 26,149. The HSCEI dropped 99 points or 1.1% to close at 9,039. The HSTECH slid 60 points or 1% to close at 5,678. Total market turnover for the day amounted to $268.275 billion. CITIC SECURITIES (600030.SH)'s A-shares cascaded 3.3% amid reports that its A-shares suffered from massive sell-offs at yesterday's (7th) close, while its H-shares CITIC SEC (06030.HK) sagged 3.5%. Other brokers came under pressure, with GTHT (02611.HK), CICC (03908.HK), CSC (06066.HK) and CGS (06881.HK) waning 3.4-4%. HTSC (06886.HK) shrank 4.6%. Chinese insurers CHINA TAIPING (00966.HK), PICC P&C (02328.HK) and ZA ONLINE (06060.HK) stumbled 2.6-3.3%, while PING AN (02318.HK) shed 1.3%. For techs, BIDU-SW (09888.HK) slumped 3.3% even though Kunlunxin's IPO is reportedly aiming to raise up to $15.6 billion. TENCENT (00700.HK) and NTES-S (09999.HK) faded 1.4% and 1.3%, while BABA-W (09988.HK), KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) and JD-SW (09618.HK) fell over 2%. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) receded 3.3%. In addition, NETEASE MUSIC (09899.HK) and UNISOUND (09678.HK) descended 3.1% and 4.9%, while XD INC (02400.HK) and INSILICO (03696.HK) surged 6.5% and 10.9%. XTALPI (02228.HK), which planned to issue $2.866 billion zero coupon convertible bonds, opened flat at $11.54 and slipped 1.6%. Chip stocks SMIC (00981.HK) and HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) ticked up 0.3% and 2.6%. Memory prices spiked.
