US Takes Military Action Against Venezuela and Will Govern It Temporarily

Last Saturday (3rd), the US mounted military action against Venezuela, the country with the largest oil reserves in the world and a member of OPEC. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife were captured by US forces and taken to the US for trial, facing drug trafficking charges.

US President Donald Trump stated that the US will temporarily govern Venezuela until a safe, appropriate, and legal transfer of power can be conducted. He also mentioned that Venezuela will not be allowed to be taken over by individuals who disregard the interests of the Venezuelan people.
