The HSI opened 230 points or 0.9% higher at 25,761. The HSCEI rose 78 points or 0.9% to 9,013. The HSTECH climbed 56 points or 1% to 5,591. With a spike in gold prices, ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) and CHINAGOLDINTL (02099.HK) opened up 3.5% and 3.4%. SD GOLD (01787.HK) and ZHAOJIN MINING (01818.HK) advanced 2.1% and 2%. CHI SILVER GP (00815.HK) also soared 2.9% as silver prices hit a new high. Aluminum stock CHINAHONGQIAO (01378.HK) shot up 3.3%. In the tech sector, BABA-W (09988.HK), NTES-S (09999.HK), and KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) rallied 1.4-1.9% at open. TENCENT (00700.HK) and BIDU-SW (09888.HK) gained 1.1% and 1%. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), JD-SW (09618.HK), and SMIC (00981.HK) inched up 0.5-0.7%. BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) added 0.1%. Among carmakers, XIAOMI-W (01810.HK), LI AUTO-W (02015.HK), and GEELY AUTO (00175.HK) opened inclining 0.9-1.1%. NIO-SW (09866.HK) leaped 2.2%. BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) remained flat at HKD97.35.
