The Federal Reserve will commence short-term government bond purchases tomorrow (12th) to manage market liquidity and ensure firm control over the central bank's interest rate target system. The initial round will amount to around USD40 billion per month.

According to an announcement released by the Fed, these purchases will remain at a high level in the coming months to offset the anticipated spike in non-reserve liabilities in April. Afterwards, the purchase pace will likely slow down significantly to align with the expected seasonal patterns of the Fed's liabilities.
