JPM Asset Mgmt Tai Hui Still Sees Room for US Rate Cuts Next Yr

The Fed announced a 0.25% rate cut as expected, lowering the target federal funds rate to 3.5-3.75%. Tai Hui, APAC Chief Market Strategist at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, noted that three FOMC voters opposed the decision.

The voting results and updated economic and policy rate forecasts show greater divergence in views among FOMC members, with the moderate changes to the FOMC's Summary of Economic Projections (SEP) tilting hawkish.

He still saw room for rate cuts in the US in 2026, especially if the job market turns out to be softer than the Fed's forecast. The bitmap outlook maintains only one rate cut for 2026 and 2027.
