<H Shrs>HSI Adds 96Pts at Open; Key Techs Thrive; BABA-W Up Ahead of Results Release

US bourse was well-shaped overnight (28th), with the S&P 500 hitting a record closing high. As Hong Kong entered the peak of earnings release season, stocks opened higher this morning, fueled by techs. The HSI opened up 96 points, or 0.4%, at 25,095. The HSCEI gained 41 points, or 0.5%, to 8,958. The HSTECH lifted 45 points, or 0.8%, to 5,689. In the tech sector, BABA-W (09988.HK), set to release earnings after market close, opened 0.9% higher at HK$116.8. TENCENT (00700.HK) and MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) inched up 0.3% and 0.7%, respectively. JD-SW (09618.HK), BIDU-SW (09888.HK), NTES-S (09999.HK), and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) added 1-1.6%. KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) climbed 2%. XIAOMI-W (01810.HK), which unveiled its HyperOS 3 operating system, opened 0.4% lower. SMIC (00981.HK) reported a 36% YoY rise in 1H25 net profit but opened 0.1% lower at HK$62.25. SENSETIME-W (00020.HK) narrowed its 1H25 adjusted net loss to RMB1.16 billion, boosting its stock 1.4% to HK$2.12. Among auto stocks, BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) opened 0.5% lower.
