BANK OF E ASIA (00023.HK) announced that David Li Kwok-po (Executive Chairman of the Bank), his spouse Penny Poon, Arthur Li Kwok-cheung (Deputy Chairman of the Bank) agreed to acquire 40.8 million, 4 million, and 8 million shares of the group, respectively, from major shareholder Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC). The total of 52.8 million shares represented 2% of the issued ordinary shares, priced at HKD9.64 per share, being a 13.3% discount to today’s closing price of HKD11.12. The transaction involves a total of approximately HKD509 million. David Li Kwok-po and Arthur Li Kwok-cheung conveyed that their purchase of the Acquisition Shares reflected their confidence in the Bank's long-term prospects, strategic direction, and ability to deliver sustainable value to shareholders.
